Teguh Ostenrik

Teguh Ostenrik has participated in over 100 solo and group exhibitions in the US, Europe, Australia and Asia.

The Indonesian news magazine “Tempo” awarded Ostenrik the title “Best Artist in the Visual Arts Category” in 2009 and 2014. The inspiration for his works from the “Ten by Ten” series came to the Indonesian painter and sculptor — who studied art at the UdK in Berlin and spent a total of 16 years in Europe — during a visit to a group exhibition of young artists in Jakarta. Based on a series of 10x10cm sketches that he made as a young man in New York in the 80s, 280 new works were created in 2009, each representing precious memories of certain moments in the life of the now internationally successful artist. Each individual work, consisting of three, four or more individual objects, is designed as an independent statement.

In the series “Heaven”, Teguh also delves into his continuously experienced upheaval by exploring his past, his physical creation and his spiritual experience”,

says Chris Kerrigan, curator.

For several years, Ostenrik has devoted himself intensively to his art object “ARTificial Reef Park”, which he founded, whose goal is to restore nature through art. www.ytr.or.id
